Weave alternatives for the phones: 8 options for dental offices (2026)

Weave alternatives for dental offices: keep your phones and add BuzzWisely's AI receptionist, or switch to Mango Voice, RingCentral, Adit or RevenueWell.

By Dr. Ramtin Khaef and the BuzzWisely team Published 7 min read

Below: the options side by side at month-to-month prices, why the smallest change is usually the right one, and how to switch without missing a call. Every vendor fact links to the vendor’s own page.

Free: before you change anything, see how many calls your office misses now: run BuzzWisely’s free phone check. Then see how BuzzWisely answers dental calls.

First, decide what you’re replacing

Choosing a Weave alternative starts with what you’re replacing:

  • Just the answering. Your phones are fine; the calls nobody can pick up are the problem. Keep your phones and add an AI receptionist: no number port, no new hardware, nothing new for the team to learn.
  • The phone system. You want different phones. Mango Voice, RingCentral, Adit and RevenueWell sell them, and every switch means porting your numbers.
  • The patient tools. You want different reminders, forms and payments. NexHealth sells those.

Option 1: keep your phones, add an AI receptionist

Keeping your phones and adding an AI receptionist is the smallest change. Your phones forward the calls nobody picks up, or every call after hours, to an AI that answers in your office’s name and books the visit.

BuzzWisely’s comparison of AI receptionists you can add behind your phones, at month-to-month prices:

How BuzzWisely compares

  • Lower month-to-month prices. BuzzWisely is $289 or $389 a month with no contract. Dentina’s month-to-month prices are $374 and $499 per location, and Arini, RevenueWell and Weave don’t publish theirs.
  • More languages on the starting plan. The $289 Nectar plan answers in English, Spanish and 13 more languages. Dentina’s $374 Standard plan lists English and Spanish.
  • A person whenever a caller asks. Anyone who asks for a person gets one. Dentina lists routing to a person on request on its Premium plan.
  • Live within an hour. Most offices are answering calls within an hour of starting. Dentina says about three days.
  • Ten days to try it for $5, then a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Weave’s own AI Receptionist is still in early access and quote-only; Does Weave have an AI receptionist? covers what it does today.

Option 2: switch the phone system (Mango Voice, RingCentral)

Four phone platforms could replace Weave’s phones outright. Each one means porting your numbers, new phones or apps, and retraining the team.

Phone platforms that could replace Weave, as read on each vendor’s own site, at month-to-month prices:

RevenueWellMarketing and patient-engagement platform with a phone systemAI Receptionist add-on: answers, books, reschedules and cancels; English and SpanishNot publishedrevenuewell.com

A new phone system won’t answer the calls that ring while every hand is busy: the team is still chairside, at checkout or at lunch. If that’s why you’re leaving Weave, Option 1 fixes it without the switch, and an AI receptionist works with whichever phones you end up on.

Option 3: keep your phones, replace the patient tools (NexHealth)

NexHealth sells online booking, forms, reminders, payments and reporting, and says it works with the phone system you already have (NexHealth’s Weave comparison page, checked 2026-10-29). Its product and pricing pages don’t list a phone system or an AI receptionist, and its pricing is quote-only (NexHealth’s pricing page, checked 2026-10-29). The calls nobody picks up still need someone to answer them, so pair it with an AI receptionist from Option 1.

How to switch without missing a call

Switching away from Weave without missing a call takes five steps, in this order:

  1. Find your dates. Under Weave’s Terms, orders of a year or longer renew automatically unless you give notice at least 30 days before the end, and month-to-month accounts cancel at least 30 days before the next billing period (Weave Terms of Service, last updated October 2, 2026, section 9, checked 2026-10-29). Your order form has the exact dates, and the Weave cost guide covers the other contract terms.
  2. Port your numbers before you cancel. Weave’s Terms say a cancellation takes effect only once every number has been ported out (section 9.6, same link). Mango, for one, says porting usually takes two to four weeks (Mango’s pricing FAQ, checked 2026-10-29).
  3. Plan the phone return. Leased Weave phones go back within ten business days of termination (section 16, same link).
  4. Start the AI receptionist on overflow first, if answering is part of the plan. Make ten test calls (a new patient, a reschedule, an emergency, someone who asks for a person), then let it run for two weeks before you change anything else. To start with BuzzWisely, see how a dental office forwards its calls to it.
  5. Get a signed business associate agreement (BAA) from every new vendor before it handles a patient’s call. BuzzWisely signs one on every plan.

How BuzzWisely helps with the calls your team can’t get to

BuzzWisely publishes this comparison, and Option 1 is what it’s built for.

BuzzWisely is an AI receptionist built for dental offices by a dentist who owns five practices. It answers calls 24/7 in English, Spanish and 13 more languages, books appointments into an office’s scheduling software, and works alongside the phone system an office already has, whether you keep your phones or switch. From $289 a month (Nectar) or $389 (Honey), month to month, with a 10-day trial for $5, and most offices are live within an hour.

In the five dental offices behind BuzzWisely, the team answers first and the AI takes any call nobody picks up within two rings. The Two-Rings Rule comes from Bonded: It Isn’t the Composite Holding Your Dental Practice Together, the book about what really keeps a dental office running.

Frequently asked questions.

What are the best Weave alternatives for dental phones?
It depends on what you're replacing. If it's the calls nobody picks up, keep your phones and add an AI receptionist such as BuzzWisely, which is $289 a month, month to month, and books into Open Dental, Dentrix and Eaglesoft. If it's the phone system itself, offices look at Mango Voice, Adit, RevenueWell or RingCentral. For Weave's patient tools alone, there's NexHealth.
Can I keep Weave and add a different AI receptionist?
Usually, yes, through call forwarding. BuzzWisely works alongside the phone system an office already has, Weave included: the phones forward the calls nobody picks up, and BuzzWisely answers them and books the visit. Test each forwarding rule from a cell phone before you rely on it.
Which Weave alternatives publish their prices?
BuzzWisely does: $289 or $389 a month, month to month, with a 10-day trial for $5. Mango Voice, RingCentral and Dentina also publish prices on their own sites, while Adit, NexHealth, RevenueWell and Arini give prices only through a demo or quote (checked 2026-10-29). Weave publishes its base plan ($199 a month) and two $149 bundles, and BuzzWisely's Weave cost guide has the details.
Can I keep my phone number if I leave Weave?
Yes, by porting it to your new provider. Weave's Terms of Service say a cancellation takes effect only once every number has been ported out, so start the port before you cancel (checked 2026-10-29).
Which options book appointments straight into my practice software?
BuzzWisely books into Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft and the other dental systems on its dental page. On their own sites, Adit, RevenueWell, Dentina and Arini say their AI books appointments too, and Weave's AI Receptionist books only for qualified dental software (all checked 2026-10-29). Mango's Margo takes callback details instead, and RingCentral's AI Receptionist names general calendars, not dental software.
Does Mango Voice have an AI receptionist?
Yes. Margo comes with Mango's AI Suite, $419 a month for 1 to 3 phones paid monthly, and it's only for Mango Voice customers. Mango's page describes Margo taking the caller's name, reason and callback number for your team; it doesn't say Margo books appointments (Mango's pricing and dental pages, checked 2026-10-29).
Can an AI receptionist answer the calls my dental team misses without new phones?
Usually, yes, through call forwarding from the phones you have. BuzzWisely is an AI receptionist built for dental offices by a dentist who owns five practices. It answers the calls the team can't get to, during exams, at lunch, after hours and on holidays, answers patients' common questions and books appointments. It's $289 a month, month to month, and most offices are live within an hour. Test the forwarding before you rely on it.
