Fair Use Policy
Last Updated: July 23, 2026
The short version: Our Unlimited plan really is unlimited for the way a normal business uses a phone. There's no hard cutoff and your AI receptionist never stops answering — the fair-use threshold is set high, and if you ever pass it, overage is simple and transparent. This page explains where that threshold sits, what happens if you go past it, and the handful of things that don't count as fair use.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to the Unlimited (Honey) plan. Our other plans include a defined bundle of minutes rather than unlimited usage, so the fair-use threshold below is specific to the Unlimited plan.
"Unlimited concurrent calls" — the ability for your AI receptionist to answer many callers at the same time — is genuinely unlimited on every plan and is not affected by this policy.
2. What "Unlimited" includes
The Unlimited plan includes up to 1,200 minutes of inbound call handling per month at your flat monthly rate. That's a high monthly ceiling, set to cover everyday business call volume — including busy periods and multi-location operations — without you needing to think about minutes.
Your service never switches off when you approach or pass this number. Calls keep getting answered, appointments keep getting booked, and your receptionist keeps working exactly as before. The threshold only affects billing, not availability.
3. What happens if you go over 1,200 minutes
Nothing dramatic — and no surprises. If your usage exceeds 1,200 minutes in a billing month, the additional minutes are simply billed at a flat $0.24 per minute of overage. That's it: transparent, per-minute, and only charged on the minutes above the threshold.
Example: if you used 1,500 minutes in a month, the first 1,200 are covered by your plan and the extra 300 minutes would be billed at $0.24/minute — an additional $72 for that month. There are no tiers, no penalties, and no interruption to your service.
Overage is metered honestly and shown on your invoice. If your business consistently runs well above the threshold, contact us — we're happy to talk through a plan that fits your volume.
4. What counts as fair use
Fair use means using BuzzWisely the way it's meant to be used: as the receptionist for your own business. That includes things like:
- Answering inbound calls from your real customers, patients, and clients
- Booking, rescheduling, and confirming appointments
- Answering common questions, routing calls, and taking messages
- Handling seasonal surges, marketing spikes, and busy periods
- Running multiple phone numbers or locations under your own accounts
If it's genuine call traffic for your business, it's fair use — full stop.
5. What isn't fair use
The fair-use threshold exists to keep pricing predictable and to prevent a small number of abusive patterns that aren't normal business call handling. The following are not permitted under any plan and fall outside fair use:
- Reselling, sublicensing, or sharing your plan's minutes with unrelated third parties, or operating BuzzWisely as a call center on behalf of businesses that aren't yours
- Auto-dialing, robocalling, mass outbound campaigns, or any artificially generated, looping, or non-human call traffic
- Traffic designed primarily to consume minutes rather than serve real callers
- Any use that violates our Terms of Use, including the Acceptable Use and prohibited-use sections, or that creates legal, carrier, or system-integrity risk
6. What we do if usage looks abnormal
If we notice usage that appears to fall outside fair use — for example, patterns consistent with reselling or automated traffic — our first step is almost always to reach out and talk it through. We'd rather understand your situation than surprise you.
That said, to protect service quality and pricing for everyone, BuzzWisely reserves the right to apply rate limits, throttling, or restrictions, and to suspend or terminate accounts engaged in genuinely abusive use, as described in our Terms of Use.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Fair Use Policy from time to time. If we make a material change to the threshold or overage rate, we'll reflect it here and update the "Last Updated" date above. Current pricing and plan details always live on our Pricing page.
